E-commerce (or electronic commerce) refers to business that is conducted over the internet. E-commerce implies the exchange of goods or services between two or more businesses (B2B) or between a business and consumers (B2C). E-commerce hosting is the business whereby a company facilitates the e-commerce of other businesses. I.e. they provide the necessary tools for other companies to conduct business over the internet. E-commerce hosts typically provide their customers with a web server, payment processing capabilities (e.g. accept credit cards online), special shopping-cart software and templates or software to build customized storefronts.
